Bodegas La Purisima ‘Old Hands’ Yecla Monastrell Roble 2013

Mourvedre from Spain
Review Date : 22-Nov-2015
Monastrell fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 4 months in oak. Vey full, dark, deep black-hued ruby-red colour. This has a firm and tightly bound nose with aromas of bright red berried fruits interwoven with nuances of nuts, earth and minerals, unfolding spicy oak and enrichening cedary detail. The aromas build in depth and concentration with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the fruit is stylishly restrained in expression, showing subtly sweet and ripe flavours of raspberries and blackberries. Some mineral, spice and cedar nuances emerge to add to the interest. The mouthfeel features a firm core with fine-textured flowery tannin extraction, and balanced, lacy acidity, lending an elegant proportion. The wine carries to a long, delicate finish with nuances of raspberries and spice. This is an elegant, fine-textured Yecla with black and red fruits and sweet, spicy and cedary oak detail. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 4-5 years. Certified Agricultura UE Organic. 17.0+/20 Nov 2015 RRP $21.99
