Bodegas Fontana ‘Mesta’ Ucles Tempranillo Rosé 2015

Rose from Spain
Review Date : 01-Feb-2016
Bright, purple-hued pink with some depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh and mouthwatering with bright aromas of raspberries and pomegranate with an amalgam of steely florals and minerals, unfolding boiled sweet notes in the glass. Off-dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate features juicy and lush fruit flavours of raspberries, cranberries and pomegranate along with a layer of raspberry confectionary and lifted florals. This has a good core and shows depth. The mouthfeel is vibrant and lively with crisp, lacy acidity, and the wine follows a light, grainy-textured line that carries to a dry-textured, thirst-quenching finish of raspberry confectionary. This is a lively, fine-textured, juicy, off-dry rosé with flavours of raspberries and pomegranate. Serve as an aperitif and with dim sum and tapas over the next 2 years. 100% Tempranillo from the Ucles region given 7 ½ hours skin contact and 30% saignee juice added, then cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 8.9 g/L RS. Certified SHC organic. 17.5/20 Feb 2016 RRP $17.99
