Bodegas Fontana ‘Mesta’ Ucles Tempranillo Rosé 2013

Rose from Spain
Review Date : 12-Oct-2014
Pale candy floss pink colour, a little lighter on rim. The nose is fresh with open and soft aromas of strawberries, red florals, watermelon and a little earthy sulphide reduction adding some funky interest. Medium-dry to taste and light-medium bodied, bright watermelon flavours intermingle with strawberries and cream forming a soft, rounded core. The mouthfeel is clean and gently thirst-quenching with discreet acidity and mild, mellow textures providing a smooth flow. Delicate red berry fruit and red florals emerge, leading to a light, dry finish. This is a soft, light, strawberry fruited and floral-nuanced, gently mouthwatering, off-dry rosé. Serve as an aperitif, with antipasto and tapas over the next 2 years. 100% Tempranillo from Ucles, Castile-La Mancha, from 8 y.o. vines, given 8 hours skin contact and made with the addition of 30% saignee juice, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.0% alc. and 9.25 g/L RS. 16.5/20 Oct 2014 RRP $17.99
