Bodegas Fontana ‘Mesta’ Ucles Tempranillo 2014

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 10-Oct-2015
Dark, even ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is very fresh with bright and lifted, fragrant aromas of dark red cherry fruit, expressed with clarity and complication. Red florals and whole berry fermentation confectionary elements adds to the lift and perfume. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly proportioned with concentrated, vibrant and aromatic red cherry fruit and red florals. The lifted flavours are enhanced by confectionary notes and fresh fermentation esters. The mouthfeel is soft and juicy, with fine-grained, drying tannins emerging to carry the palate. This has good linearity, the acidity integrated, and the palate leading to a dry finish of florals and confectionary. This is an elegant, juicy Tempranillo with lifted confectionary and floral notes and fine, grainy-textured, dry mouthfeel. Serve with antipasto, tapas, pasta and barbecued fare over the next 3+ years. 100% Tempranillo from organic estate vineyards, fermented in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 4 g/L RS, the wine on skins 8 days and bottled without oaking. 16.5+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $17.99
