Bodegas Fontana ‘Mesta’ Ucles Tempranillo 2013

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 08-Jul-2014
Very dark, near impenetrable black-red colour with purple hues, lighter on rim. The nose is fresh with fragrant, primary aromas of sweet and ripe raspberry and redcurrant fruits, along with red liquorice and whole berry fermentation confectionary and floral notes. Medium-bodied with a firm and tightly bound core, sweetly ripe, juicy, lifted red berry fruits, raspberries, florals and fruit bon-bon flavours open up on the palate. A little CO2 tickle initially shows, with fresh, enlivening acidity adding to the perfumed expression. Light, grainy tannins build, growing in grip and texture, balancing the sweet fruit, leading to a dry, grainy finish with confectionary elements. This is a juicy, fruity Tempranillo with whole berry fermentation lift and a drying, grainy-textured palate. Serve with antipasto, tapas, pizza and barbecued food over the next 3+ years. 100% Tempranillo, all estate fruit, fermented in stainless steel to 14.0% alc., the wine bottled without oaking. Certified Agricultura organic. 17.0/20 Jul 2014 RRP $17.99
