Bodegas Castano ‘Pozuelo’ Yecla Reserva 2008

Mourvedre from Spain
Review Date : 14-Jun-2012
A single estate vineyard expression, 70% Monastrell, 10% each of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 20 months in oak. Good depth of ruby-red, this is tightly bound on bouquet with restrained fruit aromatics, but more complexing savoury earth and leather notes. A traditionally styled wine on palate based on structure and tannin mouthfeel. Fruit still present, but acidity more of a feature. This has an approachability, and balance, but its weight and style begs for roasted and grilled red meats. This will keep 4-6 years.  16.5+/20  Jun 2012  RRP $27.90
