Bodegas Castano ‘Molino Loco’ Yecla Monastrell 2013

Mourvedre from Spain
Review Date : 08-Jan-2015
85% Monastrell from vines over 50 y.o. and 15% Syrah from 15 y.o., fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine briefly wood aged. Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with light purple hues, youthful in appearance. The nose is elegantly concentrated with ripe aromas of dark red berry and plum fruits, still quite primary, unfolding red liquorice and earthy elements and some seasoned oak resin nuances. Medium-bodied, the palate features soft but deep flavours of dark red berry fruits entwined with liquorice, earth and resinous oak nuances. The mouthfeel is soft and rounded with gentle, dry tannins and discreet acidity. There is good vinosity which carries the palate to a dry, textural finish with plum, liquorice and earthy flavours. This is a soft Yecla red with plum, liquorice and earthy flavours. Match with lamb and beef over the next 3+ years. 16.5/20 Jan 2015 RRP $15.00
