Bodegas Castano ‘Hecula’ Yecla Monastrell 2009

Mourvedre from Spain
Review Date : 14-Jun-2012
100% Monastrell from ‘La Greusas' and ‘Pozuelo', vines around 35 y.o., fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 6 months in French and American oak. Dark ruby red colour, this has refined and intense aromas of black and red fruits, hints of liquorice, showing ripeness. The depth of fruit and proportion imbues a stylishness, the lusciousness well-matched by fine-grained tannin extract. This has a touch of class, but is accessible now. This well keep 5-6+ years.  18.0/20  Jun 2012  RRP $24.90
