Bodegas Carchelo ‘C’ Jumilla 2012

Mourvedre from Spain
Review Date : 12-Mar-2014
Very full, near saturated black-ruby red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is full and well-packed with aromas of ripe black berried fruits along with boysenberry jam, tarry notes and a herbal underlay, all harmoniously entwined. Dry and fulsome on palate, concentrated flavours of sweet, ripe black fruits, boysenberry jam and herbs open out to fill the mouth. This grows to become fleshy and rounded with an underlying dense core carrying the palate. Light and fine tannins along with soft, lowish acidity result in a mellow, but weighty finish. This is a soft, fleshy, but weighty Jumilla with ripe plum, boysenberry and jammy flavours. Match with roasted and grilled game meat dishes over the next 4-5 years. 40% Monastrell, 30% Tempranillo, 20% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 6 months on French oak barrels. 17.5/20 Mar 2014 RRP $18.99
