Bodegas Carchelo ‘C’ Jumilla 2011

Blended Red from Spain
Review Date : 08-Sep-2013
40% Monastrell, 40% Syrah and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 6 months in French oak. Very full, dark, near impenetrable black-hued red, with purple on rim. The bouquet is full, solid and densely packed with very ripe aromas of stewed black plums and savoury berry fruits, unfolding layers of savoury herbs, high dark floral and spice elements and jam. Full-bodied and robust, flavours of stewed black fruits and jam fill the mouth with sweetness. The tannins are soft and ripe and build in presence with some warm alcohol notes. The mouthfeel is fulsome and rounded and flow to a weighty, moderately sustained finish. This is a fulsome and robust warm-climate Monastrell-based Spanish wine with flavours of ripe, stewed black fruits. Serve with roasted red meat and casseroles over the next 4-5+ years. 17.5/20 Sep 2013 RRP $18.99
