Bodegas Borsao ‘Tres Picos’ Garnacha Campo de Borja 2008

Grenache from Spain
Review Date : 25-Jun-2011
Old vine Garnacha, 35+40 y.o. from the slopes of Moncayo mountain, cropped at around 2 tonnes/acre. 50% aged in French oak for 10 months. Bright, even ruby-red colour with a little garnet on edge. This has a very full and intense bouquet of rich dark red berry fruits along with powerful spice and cedary elements from the oak maturation. A full-bodied wine at 14.5% alc., the ripe, dark raspberry fruit flavours are laced by the cedary oak. Fine-grained tannins and elevated acidity provide real liveliness and tension to the palate. This is a seriously constructed wine, which breathing alleviates and harmonises the oak component. Serve with hearty red meat dishes, lamb shanks and venison will be ideal. 8-10+ years. 18.5-/20 Jun 2011 RRP $38.95
