Bodegas Borsao ‘Tocado’ Campo de Borja 2013

Grenache from Spain
Review Date : 12-May-2014
Full, deep, near impenetrable black-red colour with purple hues on rim. The nose is fresh and brash with intensely packed aromas of dark raspberry jam and black liquorice-like fruits, quite primary in expression, intermixed with rustic stalky-herbal notes. Medium-bodied, up-front, lively and fresh flavours of raspberries, herbs and stalks are underlined by grainy extract and textures. The acidity lifts the aromatics and adds to the briskness of the mouthfeel. The palate combines sweet fruit and grip forming a robust core with accessibility, and flavours that carry through to a dry, rounded finish. This is an up-front and slightly rustic, sweet-fruited Campo de Borja red. Match with pasta, pizza and barbecued food over the next 3 years. 85% Garnacha, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Tempranillo from vines 10-15 y.o., fermented to 13.5% alc. 16.5/20 May 2014 RRP $19.99
