Bodegas Bilbainas ‘Vina Zaco’ ‘Viticultura Ecologica’ Rioja Tempranillo 2010

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 06-Apr-2015
Full, even, dark ruby-red colour with lighter garnet hues on edge. The nose is elegant with light, fragrant red berry fruit and red floral notes lifted by ethereal vanilla and cedary oak elements. Medium-full bodied and elegant in proportion, this has a fine, concentrated core of dark red berry fruit with subtle savoury earth and game notes, lifted by sweet vanilla-like oak. The mouthfeel is fresh with lively, lacy acidity and tine-grained tannins emerge to provide an elegant structure and linearity. The fruit recedes, leaving the cedary and sweet oak to carry through to a lingering finish with red floral lift. This is an elegant, fragrant and lifted Rioja with red fruits and oak vanilla interest. Serve with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean fare over the next 5+ years. 100% Tempranillo from 17 ha of certified organic vineyards in the Haro district, given a cold soak and cool-fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine on skins 2 weeks and aged 10 months in 50% French and 50% American oak 16.5+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $31.99
