Bodegas Bilbainas ‘Vina Zaco’ Rioja Tempranillo 2010

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 22-Feb-2014
Full, near impenetrable black-red colour with a little garnet on rim. This has a very full nose of very ripe black fruits, dark plums and boysenberries, with dark chocolate aromas with plum jam and a little game. Dryish and full-bodied, openly broad and mouthfilling, juicy flavours of sweetly ripe black plum and berryfruits are the feature on palate. The tannins are soft and fine, providing a balancing dryness, and the acidity is low, lending a rounded mouthfeel. The flavours are up-front but fade on the finish, leaving light black fruit and jam notes. This is a big, full, soft, ripe and jammy black fruited Rioja. Serve with barbecued and roasted red meats over the next 4 years. 100% Tempranillo from vineyards in Haro, Rioja Alta, given a cold soak and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in American and French oak barrels. 17.0/20 Feb 2014 RRP $24.95
