Bodegas Bilbainas ‘Vina Pomal’ Rioja Crianza 2010

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 20-Oct-2014
100% Tempranillo from the 90 ha ‘Vina Pomal’ estate, Haro, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 15% new American oak barriques. Full, black-red colour, dark-hearted, with some garnet on edge. The bouquet is elegant with smooth, savoury red and black fruit aromas entwined with some fragrant oak vanillins and cedar, unfolding red berry fruit detail in the glass. Medium-bodied and tightly bound, a slender of core of black and red fruits melded with vanilla is carried by a fine, dry, firm tannin line. The palate offers vinosity and presence, revealing sweet red fruit interest, and unobtrusive acidity. The extraction carries the wine to a fine-grained, textured and dry finish. This is an elegant, classically proportioned Rioja with a firm tannin line. Serve with roasted red meats and semi-hard cheeses over the next 4-5+ years. 17.0+/20 RRP $24.95
