Bodega Classica ‘Hacienda Lopez de Haro’ Rioja Tempranillo 2015

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 31-Oct-2016
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, lighter on the rim. This has a finely proportioned nose with aromas of savoury dark-red cherry and berry fruit, along with dark-red plum notes and subtle notes of herbs and earth. The nose builds in depth and concentration with aeration. Medium-bodied, moderately concentrated, but juicy flavours of savoury cherry, berry and plum fruits are harmoniously melded with herb and earthy notes. The sweet fruit is supported by fine-grained tannin extraction and underlying fresh acidity, providing good tension and energy. The textures carry the fruit to a positively concentrated, lingering finish of dark cherry fruit and herbs. This is a juicy Rioja with savoury cherry, berry and plum flavours on a fine-grained, lively palate. Match with antipasto, pasta, pizza and barbecued fare over the next 3-4 years. 100% Tempranillo from vines 50-70 y,o, in the San Vicente de la Sonsierra district fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 3-4 months in new oak. 17.0/20 Nov 2016 RRP $17.99
