Bodega Classica ‘Hacienda Lopez de Haro’ Rioja Tempranillo 2013

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 10-Mar-2015
Dark ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, lighter on rim and youthful in appearance. The nose is light and elegant with aromas of dark raspberry fruit entwined with lifted dark red florals and subtle dark herbs. This has a fine core to the aromatics unveiling subtle oak notes. Medium-bodied, the flavours of dark red berry fruits are restrained in expression. Subtle herbal elements and lifted oak add detail. The mouthfeel is bright and lively with fresh acidity, and supple tannins provide an accessible structure with underlying vitality. The wine follows a fine-textured line leading to a bright, firm dry finish. This is an elegant, lively and supple Rioja with restrained red fruit flavours. Serve with Mediterranean fare and grilled and roasted red meats over the next 3+ years. 100% Tempranillo from vines 50-70 y,o, in the San Vicente de la Sonsierra district fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 3-4 months in new oak. 16.5+/20 Mar 2015 RRP $17.99
