Bodega Classica ‘Hacienda Lopez de Haro’ Rioja Crianza 2011

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 17-May-2015
Dark ruby-red colour with garnet hues, lighter on rim. This has an elegantly proportioned and tightly held nose with bright, aromatic red berry fruits and red florals alongside dried herb, stalk, earth and leathery nuances, lending savoury detail. A little sweet oak vanillin lifts the bouquet. Medium-bodied, flavours of dark red berry fruits, earth, stalk and herb combine with leather and oak vanillins forming a moderately concentrated core. The fruit has ripeness, but is a little restrained, allowing the fine, grainy tannins to show. Dry textured and linear through the mid-plate, the wine blossoms on the finish with sweet and savoury red berry, plum and oak flavours. This is a moderately concentrated, sweet-fruited Rioja with dry tannin grip. Serve with roasted red meats and semi-hard cheeses over the next 3-4+ years. A blend of Tempraillo, Garnacha and Graciano from La Rioja, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 18 months in French and American oak. 17.0+/20 May 2015 RRP $24.99
