Block 88 Pinot Noir 2019, Marlborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Jun-2020
Dark, even medium ruby-red with a purple hue. The nose is bursting with nuances of red flower petals, dried herbs; entwined with fragrant oak spices, sweet scent of vanilla unfolding ripened dark cherries and blackberries dipped in dark chocolate. The palate fills with a snug of ripe black cherry and berry fruit, dried petals and herbs; support by a dusting of dark cocoa tannin provided silky and smooth mouthfeel. The right amount of acidity contributed freshness and lifting the fragrant sweet oak spices to a sustained finish. This is a medium-bodied Pinot Noir with complex flavours of ripened black fruit, dark chocolate, sweet oak spices and floral fragranced; balanced freshness and richness, and a silken tannin structure. Match with venison and game over the next 3-5 years. Handpicked, destemmed, fermented to 13.5% alc in tanks. Aged in French oak barriques for 10 months. 18/20pts June 2020 RRP $45
