Block 88 Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Aug-2014
Full, dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on edge. The bouquet is youthful and bright with ripe dark raspberry and red plum fruit aromas that are well-packed with layers of dark herbs, raspberry liqueur, spices and cedar. A little reductive mineral nuance adds to the interest. Medium-full bodied, well-concentrated and deep flavours of ripe, dark berry fruits, spicy plums, spicy oak and herbs are supported by soft, fine-grained tannin structure, forming a dense and weighty core. The mouthfeel is quite fulsome with fruit presence and good extract. The tannins have a suppleness and with the soft acidity lead the palate to a soft, rounded, lingering finish. This is a softly packed and concentrated, supple Pinot Noir with spicy dark fruit flavours. Serve with lamb, beef and venison over the next 5 years. Fruit from the ‘Auntsfield’ vineyard, fermented to 14.0% alc. 18.0-/20 Aug 2014 RRP $24.99
