Block 88 Marlborough Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 14-Mar-2012
‘Block 88' is made from a selection of distinctive parcels of wine by Auntsfield Estate for the exclusive stocking by the Fine Wine Delivery Company. Hand-picked fruit, fully destemmed and fermented partially with indigenous yeasts to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in French oak barriques. Dark ruby-red colour with depth, and some youthful purple hues on edge. The bouquet is full and voluminous, showing dark berry and black plum fruit, along with raspberry liqueur, confectionary and oak spices, very evenly and stylishly presented with some restraint. A full, flavoursome wine with well-ripened, dark berry fruit, plums and notes of liquorice with oak that unfold in waves, the breadth is enhanced by soft acidity and supple tannins and a little alcohol warmth. There is a good core to drive the palate and the wine is one of rich, plump generosity. Match with hearty duck, pork and veal dishes over the next 4-5+ years. 18.0/20 Mar 2012 RRP $19.99
