Blind River Awatere Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Sep-2014
Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour with light green hues on rim. This has a very fine, tightly bound and focussed nose with penetrating and refreshingly clean aromas of gooseberries, passionfruit, nettles and cut grass, along with chalky mineral notes. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, tightly concentrated flavours of gooseberries, nettles and cut grass are enlivened by bright and lively acidity. The acidity enhances the fruit succulence and mouthwatering minerality. The palate has an excellent core and fine phenolic textures lend excellent linearity. Aromatic passionfruit flavours unfold and are carried by the acidity to a very long, lingering, acid-driven, dry-textured finish. This is a bright, lively, succulently fruited, mouthwatering Sauvignon Blanc with excellent linearity. Match with seafood, salads and vegetables and goats cheese, over the next 2+ years. Bordeaux 314 and MS clone fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel with 10% in seasoned French oak barriques to 13.5% alc. and 4.2 g/L RS, the wine aged 3 months on lees. 17.5+/20 Sep 2014 RRP $22.99
