Blind River Awatere Valley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 22-Jul-2014
Clone 115 fruit from the Awatere, destemmed and given a 12 day cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak barrels. Dark purple-hued ruby-red colour with moderate depth. This has a fresh, elegant and tightly-held nose with bright aromas of dark red florals and cherry fruit, showing clarity and purity. Some fresh herb, mineral and raspberry liqueur nuances emerge in the glass. Medium-bodied, this is elegant and slender in presentation with bright and lifted floral and raspberry fruitiness. The palate is underlined by supple, fine-grained tannin extraction providing a soft and dry mouthfeel. Some lacy acidity lends energy and carries the wine to a lively, aromatic finish. This is an elegant, tightly held Pinot Noir with clear fruitiness, fine textures and freshness. Serve with firm-fleshed seafood and poultry over the next 4+ years. 612 cases made. 17.5-/20 Jul 2014 RRP $36.00
