Blind River Awatere Valley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Oct-2013
Full, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. The nose is elegantly concentrated and finely presented with aromas of dark raspberries with lifted dark red floral, cherry and herb detail. Medium-bodied, softly rich and well-concentrated flavours of raspberry liqueur and dark cherries form a deep core. The mouthfeel is bright, sweet and vibrant with fresh, lacy acidity and fine-grained tannins underlining the fruit. Layers of liquorice and plum flavours unfold, along with Asian spice notes and oak providing interest. The palate leads to a very long, lingering and dry finish with raspberry and spice nuances. This is an elegant and fine-grained Pinot Noir with rich and intense raspberry and spice flavours. Serve with roasted pork and lamb, and with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 5-6 years. Dijon clone 115 fruit hand-picked and destemmed, given a cold soak, the wine aged 10 months in 35% new French oak barrels. 625 cases made. 18.0+/20 Oct 2013 RRP $36.00
