Blanket Hills ‘Snap Bone’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2012

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 22-Aug-2013
Very full, black-red colour with purple hues, near impenetrable. The bouquet is softly full and very evenly presented, with aromas of spicy black plum and liquorice fruit, lifted by violetty florals, black pepper and oak, all interwoven harmoniously. Medium-full bodied, this is very finely textured with an elegant core of ripe black berry fruits, spicy plums, sweet oak and pepper. The tannins are very fine-grained and the palate flow is underlined by refined acidity. This is soft, succulent, smooth and seamless, and the flavours are carried to a very gentle, but long lingering finish of Asian spices and liquorice. This is an elegant and smooth textured Syrah with plum, liquorice and spicy flavours. Serve with Asian duck and pork dishes and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4-5+ years. Fruit from red metal soils, fully destemmed and fermented with a portion of whole berries to 13.4% alc., the wine aged approx. 12 months in barrel. 17.5+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $24.95
