Blake Family Vineyards ‘Redd Gravels’ Hawke’s Bay 2007

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 06-Feb-2011
The fourth and final release of this label by Mark Blake, who unfortunately has discontinued his operation in the Gimblett Gravels. 73% Merlot, 18% Cab. Sauv., 9% Cab. Franc, aged in oak 19 months in over 80% new French oak, this was full and dark, black-hued red, with masses of black berry and plum aromas and flavours and matching savoury spices. A sumptuous wine with tight, serious extract underneath. 14.3% alc. A wine to age well over the next decade.  Dec 2010
