Bladen Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 14-Sep-2016
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on the rim. This has a finely concentrated and tightly bound, taut nose of clear and pure white stonefruits along with subtle and delicate nuances of white florals, unfolding rose-petal and mineral suggestions. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the palate possesses a softly concentrated core of delicate white floral and white stonefruit flavours, along with nuances of rose-petals. The fruit has a subtle richness, with good drive and linearity, the wine following a fine-textural thread with integrated acidity. The flavours recede as the wine leads to a moderately sustained finish with floral elements. This is a delicate and tightly concentrated dryish Pinot Gris with fine flow and a light finish. Serve as an aperitif and with subtle Asian fare over the next 2-3 years. Hand-picked fruit from the Bladen home vineyard, WBP, and cool-fermented in tank to 13.0% alc. and 4.8 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on lees. 16.5+/20 Sep 2016 RRP $25.00
