Bladen Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2015

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Sep-2015
Full, even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. This has a soft, gentle nose that subtly unfolds in volume, showing ripe perfumes of rose-petal florals, honeysuckle, musk and creaming soda, along with nuances of herbs and pepper, from a tightly bound core. Medium in sweetness and medium-full bodied, the flavours of rose-petal florals, musk and honeysuckle are restrained in expression. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively with good lacy acidity and the wine flows along a seamless and smooth line that suggests unctuousness. Musky herbs, pepper and varietal bitter stonefruit kernel elements emerge and lead to a moderately long, delicately nuanced finish. This is a restrained, gentle, medium Gewurztraminer with floral, musk and honeysuckle flavours and a smooth-flowing palate. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3 years. Fruit from Paynters Road, Fairhall, hand-picked and given 12 hours skin contact and cold-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.5% alc. and 12.3 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Sep 2015 RRP $25.00
