Bladen Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 02-Oct-2014
Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Tilly’ vineyard, given 12 hours skin contact and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 44 g/L RS. Full, even, light straw-yellow colour. The nose has a softly dense heart of rose-petal florals and musk with harmoniously entwined exotic herb and minerally elements, revealing ginger nuances with aeration. Medium sweet to taste and medium-full bodied, gently rich fruit flavours of rose-petals, Turkish Delight, musk and honey form a luscious palate with plush textures and harmony. The mouthfeel is rounded and has a degree of opulence, with the residual sugar adding to the mouth-coating feel. The wine flows smoothly, revealing some alcohol warmth and power, carrying the flavours to a sustained finish with a classical touch of varietal bitterness. This is a smooth, lusciously rich and harmonious medium Gewurztraminer with attractive rose-petal florals and musk flavours. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3+ years. 18.5/20 Oct 2014 RRP $25.00
