Bladen Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Sep-2013
Fruit from Paynters Road, Fairhall, hand-picked and given 12 hours skin contact, then cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.5% alc. and 13.0 g/L RS. Full, even, light straw-yellow colour with green hues. Softly concentrated aromas of exotic florals and rose-petal essence build to become voluminous on bouquet, unfolding layers of spices and musk. Medium-dry to taste, soft flavours of rose petals, Turkish Delight, musk and honeysuckle are harmoniously integrated, forming a weighty, rich, luscious and seamless palate. The mouthfeel has a degree of oiliness and unctuousness, the roundness and richness enhanced by low acidity. The palate has alcoholic power providing drive and adding generosity, retaining proportion and the wine shows no undue breadth. The flavours lead to a long, rich, luscious finish with lingering spice notes. This is a rich, lush, alcohol-driven medium-dry Gewurztraminer with spices and florals and a near unctuous mouthfeel. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. 18.5-/20 Sep 2013 RRP $25.00
