Black Peak Wanaka Central Otago Riesling 2016

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 24-Oct-2016
Brilliant, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the rim. This has a very tight, fresh and steely nose with delicate aromas of white florals, rainwater, fresh minerals, and subtle notes of citrus fruits and fresh herbs, unfolding nuances of exotic florals. Sweet to taste and light-bodied, the palate is extremely tight and taut, showing a very fine core and line of lime fruit, sherbet, white florals and delicate notes of honeysuckle and minerals. The fruit has subtle detail, unfolding tangerine and jasmine exotics, which are carried by a very fine-textured line, the fruit extract lending a refined, dry grip and mouthfeel. The acidity is soft and delicate, but has the energy to provide tension and drive. This has excellent linearity, and carries to a tightly bound refined finish of white florals, sherbet, citrus and honey. This is a very youthful and tightly bound sweet Riesling with delicate fruit detail, refined textures and taut acidity. It will develop richness over the next 5-6 years. Serve with Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine. Fruit from the Queensberry Hills, whole bunch foot-stomped and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 9.0% alc. and 48 g/L RS, TA 11.1 g/L and pH 2.89. 18.0/20 Oct 2016 RRP $26.00
