Black Peak Wanaka Central Otago Riesling 2014

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 11-Dec-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour, near colourless on rim. The nose is very elegant, tightly bound and refined in expression with delicate aromas of white florals and honeysuckle. This is beautifully precise, unfolding minerally nuances with aeration. Medium-sweet to taste and light-bodied, the palate is elegant and slender in expression with finely focussed flavours of white florals, limes and honeysuckle. The wine is extremely harmonious and composed, enlivened by subtle, lacy acidity. The fruit, sweetness and acidity are balanced and the mouthfeel has poise and tension. The wine carries to a very long and sustained, fine-featured finish with honied notes. This is a beautifully elegant and finely poised medium-sweet Riesling with delicate and precise floral and honied flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine over the next 5-6 years. Fruit from the Queensberry Hills, whole bunch foot-stomped and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 9.2% alc. and 42 g/L RS, TA7.4 g/L and pH 2.87. 18.5/20 Dec 2014 RRP $27.00
