Black Estate Wild Life Riesling B 2019, North Canterbury

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 30-Apr-2021
Bright, even, deep straw-yellow. The nose is soft with calm energy, penetrating nuances of wild chamomile, elderflower, melded with a light note of honey, lined a citrus and tree fruit backbone. Medium-full bodied, the palate is soft with calming energy, aromas of mandarin, lemon and apple are in good proportion, unveiling citrus zest, subtle white spice and fennel blossoms. Finely extracted skin phenolic added texture and mouthfeel, enlivened by delicate spices; acidity is integrated, flow with good energy, vibrant and lifting. This is a beautifully aromatic Riesling with dialled up floral element, citrus backbone and great energy. Match with chicken liver pasta and grilled swordfish over the next 3-5 years. Organic & biodynamic Riesling from B Block, Damsteep Vineyard, handpicked, fermented on skins with vineyard yeast to 12% alc, and aged in a large oak barrel on lees for 20 months. No added sulphur. Unfined and unfiltered. BioGro organic certified, vegan friendly. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Apr 2021 RRP $40
