Brilliant, even, straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues. This has a full, even and soft nose with a harmonious amalgam of savoury citrus fruits melded with musky marmalade and talc botrytis, along with complex ginger, earth and honied nuances. Subtle flint and mineral detail emerges with aeration. Medium-dry to medium in taste, the palate features savoury and exotic citrus fruit flavours entwined with ginger, marmalade and musky botrytis. Toasty detail unfolds with flint and mineral interest, and the flavours fill the mouth. The wine is up-front, and enlivened by lacy acidity and follows a fine phenolic thread that carries the palate to a light finish with savoury honey, ginger and flinty notes. This is a complex-flavoured medium-dry Riesling with savoury citrus fruit, marmalade and musky botrytis, and good energy. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian cuisine over the next 4+ years. Riesling fruit 60% from the ‘Damsteep’ vineyard supplemented by fruit from three other Glasnevin gravels sites, approx. 30% botrytis infected, and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 11.5% alc. and 10 g/L RS, TA 8.2 g/L and pH 3.4, the wine aged on lees. 18.0/20 Jun 2015 RRP $25.00
