Black Estate Waipara Valley Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 20-Dec-2013
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, lighter edged. This has an elegant and softly concentrated nose with aromas of mineral-infused lime and lemon fruit. This is complex in detail and well interwoven on bouquet. Dryish to taste, and medium-light bodied, a full and softly packed palate of lime and lemony fruit flavours shows with succulence and freshness. Rounded in texture, the fruit reveals wet stone and minerally, reductive detail in the glass. The palate is underlined by fine, lively acidity which adds tension and freshness to the flow, that leads to a soft-textured, long, citrus-flavoured finish. This is an elegantly concentrated and soft-textured dry Riesling with complex minerally interest. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next4-5+ years. Fruit from the ‘Spye’ vineyard. Omihi, from 2 ha of close-planted 13 y.o. vines on clay and limestone soils, hand-picked, WBP and indigenous yeast fermented in stainless-steel to 11.8% alc. and 10.9 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 18.5-/20 Dec 2013 RRP $23.00
