A very low yield year. Hand-picked Mendoza clone fruit from 18 y.o. vines from the ‘Estate’ vineyard, WBP and indigenous yeast fermented in barrel to 13.5% alc., the wine aged12 months in approx. 12% new oak on lees with full MLF. Full, bright, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour with light green glints. The nose is full, open and bold with aromas of ripe citrus and yellow stonefruits intermixed with butterscotch and creamy MLF notes, along with nutty oak and chalky, minerals. Full-bodied, this has a mouthfilling and complex amalgam of ripe citrus fruits melded with butterscotch and nutty oak flavours. The fruit has good concentration and succulence, and is enhanced by racy, elevated acidity. Some alcohol drive is present and a fine phenolic line carries the palate to a racy, textured finish with up-front butterscotch and oaky nuances. This is a full-bodied, mouthfilling Chardonnay with citrus and buttery flavours and plenty of raciness. Match with grilled seafood and poultry over the next 4+ years. 18.0/20 Dec 2013 RRP $38.00
