Black Estate ‘Omihi Series’ Waipara Valley Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 27-Apr-2012
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with golden hues, lighter on edge. This has a fresh and piquant nose of ripe citrus fruits with mineral and flint undertones, interwoven with cream-like MLF and barrel-ferment notes. Full-bodied, the flavour amalgam of citrus fruits, butter and oak is very harmonious and integrated, but a little restrained in expression at present. Subtle richness and creamy textures build with concentration, and the palate flows seamlessly, the underlying brisk acidity carrying through to a very long finish. This subtly rich and creamy textured Chardonnay has a concentrated palate that will develop over the next 4-5+ years. Serve with grilled seafood and roasted poultry and pork. A single vineyard wine from 10-16 y.o. vines grown on limestone clay soils, WBP and barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts to 14.5% alc., and aged 14 months in 228 L and 500 L barrels, 26% new, the wine given lees aging and full MLF. 18.5+/20 Apr 2012 RRP $32.00
