Black Estate ‘Netherwood’ Waipara Valley Rosé 2014

Rose from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 26-Mar-2015
Soft, dark strawberry colour with some depth and lighter purple hues on rim. This has a fresh, full and up-front nose of cranberry fruit with pomegranate and subtle raspberry notes, along with subtle earth, mineral and herb complexing detail, and a suggestion of raspberry confectionary. Dry to taste and light-medium bodied, soft flavours of cranberries and pomegranate intermingle with earthy red berry fruits, herbs and fruit pastilles. The mouthfeel is crisp with mouthwatering acidity and the wine follows a finely-textured line. There is good vinous presence, and the flavours lead to a dry, textured finish with earthy berry nuances. This is a refreshing, funky, cranberry and pomegranate flavoured rosé with plenty of vinosity. Serve with charcuterie and antipasto over the next 2+ years. Hand-picked clone 5 Pinot Noir and Mendoza clone Chardonnay from the ‘Netherwood’ vineyard, co-fermented with 100% whole clusters and partial carbonic maceration, with 28 days skin contact to 12.0% alc. and 2.6 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months in seasoned 500 L puncheons. 249 dozen made. 17.0+/20 Mar 2015 RRP $28.00
