Black Estate ‘Netherwood’ Waipara Valley Rosé 2013

Rose from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 20-Dec-2013
Moderately deep purple-pink colour, lighter on rim. The bouquet is fresh and evenly presented with lifted raspberry and cherry fruit aromas at the core along with attractive whole-berry fermentation confectionary notes. Dry to taste and medium-light bodied, a fresh and racy mouthfeel is the feature on palate with brisk and slippery acidity enlivening the fruit flavours of sweet and juicy raspberries, cherry and boysenberry bon-bons, along with citrus and stonefruit elements. The palate line follows a fine phenolic thread and the palate is complete in texture and proportion. The wine carries through to a fine=grained, dry finish with acid energy. This is a bright, lifted, raspberry-fruited rosé with a fresh, racy, mouthwatering palate. Match with antipasto and canapés over the next 18 months to 2 years. Hand-picked fruit from a 0.8 ha south-facing slope on the ‘Netherwood’ vineyard, 60% clone 5 Pinot Noir and 40% Mendoza Chardonnay, vines 26 y.o., co-fermented with 100% whole cluster and partial carbonic maceration to 12.0% alc. and 1.9 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months in old 500 L barrels. 17.0/20 Dec 2013 RRP $28.00
