Black Estate Damsteep Pinot Noir 2019, North Canterbury

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 30-Apr-2021
Deep, moderate ruby-black, slightly lighter edged. The nose is vibrantly soft and elegant, nuances of red cherries, redcurrants melded with lifted florals, herbs and stony minerals. Medium-full bodied, succulent aromas of red cherries, redcurrants interweave herbs and florals harmoniously, unfolding earth, liquorice and subtle minerally to linearity. The fruit has vibrancy and depth, supported by taut, integrated acidity. Tannin is dusty and refined with a mineral drive. This is an elegant Pinot Noir with flavours of red fruit, earth and mineral on a sophisticated dusty tannin palate. Match with crispy pork belly and black pudding over the next 6+ years. Fermented with vineyard derived yeast to 13% alc, 28 days skin contact. Unfined and unfiltered, minimal sulphur added at bottling. BioGro organic certified, vegan friendly. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Apr 2021 RRP $52
