Moderately dark, ruby-red colour with good depth, lighter on the rim. This has an elegantly concentrated nose with soft, up-front, ripe and vibrant black and dark red cherry fruit aromas entwined with raspberries, plums and nuances of liquorice and spice. Medium-bodied, the palate features bright, softly sweet fruit flavours of dark-red cherries, raspberries and plums. Layered nuances of liquorice, thyme herbs and whole berry fermentation confectionary elements unfold, adding interest. The fruit has a concentrated core supported by tannin extract that lends a dry, fine-textured mouthfeel and line. The acidity is soft and integrated and the wine flows easily to a lingering finish of cherries, plums and thyme herbs. This is a softly concentrated Pinot Noir with flavours of dark cherries, plums and liquorice, and a fine, dry, textured mouthfeel. Match with poultry, pork and Asian fare over the next 4+ years. Clone 777, 115, Abel and 667 fruit from Alexandra, given 8 days cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 5 days on skins post ferment and matured in tank and seasoned oak, the barrel component aged 10 months. 17.5/20 Feb 2016 RRP $25.00
