Black Cottage ‘Reserve’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 14-Aug-2013
Light, even ruby-red colour, pale on rim. The bouquet is light, subtle and near ethereal with aromas of vibrant dark red cherry fruit lifted with floral fragrances, and reveal some dark herb interest. Medium-bodied, bright dark cherry and raspberry fruit flavours show good intensity and depth, unfolding subtle herbal notes. The fruit is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity and supported by fine, grainy tannin structure. The fruit flavours grow on the palate with appropriate extract, and blossom, becoming mouthfilling. The palate leads to a moderately long, fulsome and rich finish. This is a medium-bodied, bright berryish Pinot Noir that grows in fruitiness and structure. Match with Mediterranean poultry, pork and lamb dishes over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the Bannockburn and Cromwell sub-regions, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 15% new French oak. 17.5-/20 Aug 2013 RRP $28.00
