Black Cottage Pinot Noir 2021, Marlborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Apr-2022
Deep, even, ruby-black with a purple hue. The nose is softly full; concentrated dark fruit elements interweave herb, toast, mocha and spice. Medium-bodied, aromas of black raspberries, cherries and plums melded with rich herb, mocha enriched the palate, and clove and nutmeg unfolded. The fruit is vibrant with good concentration, well-portioned mocha, and spice added richness and depth. Smooth grained tannins added a light texture to the mouthfeel. This is an approachable Pinot Noir with a black fruit core, seductive mocha, toasty oak enrichment and a fine-textured palate. Match with venison sausages and lamb kabab over the next 3 years. Fruit sourced from the Southern Valleys, fermented in open-top fermenters with 20% whole bunches to 12.5% alc, aged for 11 months in a mixture of cuves and barrels. 18+/20 pts (91 pts) Apr 2022 RRP $24
