Sauvignon Blanc from the Wairau and Awatere valleys cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 4.5 g/L rs. Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. The nose is tight and densely packed with classical, straightforward aromas of English gooseberries with hints of grass and green beans. Dry to taste, up-front and juicy flavours of gooseberries and passionfruit are lifted by bright acidity. The palate has a dry, textural flow with good line and drive, the acidity carrying the flavours to a crisp, dry, gooseberry nuanced finish with length. This is a classical, gooseberryish and grassy Marlborough Sauvignon that is crisp and dry. Match with antipasto, salads and vegetables over the next 2 years. 17.5-/20 Oct 2012 RRP $18.00
