Black Cottage Marlborough Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 06-Jun-2017
Moderately deep red colour with a lighter rim. This has a soft, full nose with warm, ripe fruit aromas of strawberries and plums harmoniously melded with red florals, spices and liquorice at the core, unfolding some jam and confectionary whole berry fermentation-like notes. Medium-bodied the flavours are up-front and open with strawberries and plums along with red floral elements. A little lifted jam-like nuance adds to the richness. The flavours are sweet and juicy, and balanced by light, grainy tannin extraction. Light, lacy acidity enlivens the mouthfeel and the flavours carry to an accessible, easy, soft-textured line with strawberry and plum flavours. This is an easy and accessible, sweet-fruited Pinot Noir with strawberry, plum and jam flavours with light tannins and a fresh mouthfeel. Fruit from the Wairau Valley supplemented with Awatere Valley fruit, fermented to 13.5% alc., with a large proportion of the wine aged 10 months in seasoned French oak and equivalents. 16.5+/20 Jun 2017 RRP $20.00
