Black Cottage Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Jul-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour, near colourless on rim. The nose is very fresh and pure, and marked by pear fruit intermixed with lifted fermentation aromas. Delicate exotic floral and honeysuckle nuances become revealed with aeration. Dryish to taste and medium-light bodied, subtle fruit flavours of pears, white stonefruits and white florals show with fresh fermentation esters lift. The mouthfeel is soft and the smoothness is enhanced by gentle lusciousness and fine phenolics. This has a delicate liveliness and easy flow, leading to a crisp, lacy and refreshing finish carried by the acidity. This is a soft, subtly fruited, aromatic and dryish Pinot Gris. It should become richer over the next 3 years. Match with gently spicy Asian cuisine. Marlborough fruit cool-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 5 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 weeks on lees. 16.5+/20 Jul 2014 RRP $16.99
