Black Cottage Marlborough Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Aug-2013
Very pale straw colour with a slight blush, pale on rim. The nose is fresh and up-front with lifted white florals, pear drops and honeysuckle notes along with fresh fermentation esters. Dryish to taste, aromatic pear fruit and florals intermingle with honeysuckle and esters on the front palate. The mouthfeel is fresh, crisp and racy with moderately elevated acidity. Some alcohol drive combines with a little textural thread adding to the body. The flavours lighten and lead to a delicate, but lingering finish. This is an up-front, youthfully racy Pinot Gris with aromatic pear and floral flavours. Match with antipasto and seafood over the next 3+ years. Marlborough fruit given 3 hours skin contact and cool-fermented to 14.0% alc. and 3.44 g/L RS, the wine aged 3 months on lees. 17.0/20 Aug 2013 RRP $18.00
