Black Cottage Marlborough Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Mar-2014
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on rim. The nose is bright and upfront with uncomplicated yellow stonefruit and citrus fruit aromas, quite fruit-driven and mouthwatering with its frehness. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, bright, light and elegantly expressed flavours of citrus fruit are supported by a fire-textured mouthfeel and crisp, lacy acidity which enhances the fruit lift. Delicate nuances of nutty oak and a suggestion of flinty lees work provides inviting interest. The fruit prevails and carries the palate to a clean, dry citrus-fruited finish. This is a clean, fresh, citrus-fruited, dry Chardonnay. Serve with seafood and white meats over the next 3 years. Fruit from a single vineyard in the upper Wairau, from 15 y.o. vines, a percentage hand-picked, WBP and fermented to 13.5% alc., approx. 20 aged in mainly seasoned oak, the wine undergoing batonnage and a small portion through MLF. 16.5+/20 Mar 2014 RRP $16.99
