Black Cottage Chardonnay 2022, Hawke’s Bay

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 16-Jul-2023
Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is softly full, filled with aromas of citrus, stonefruit, spice and a hint of warm butter. Medium-bodied, aromas of peach and nectarine entwined with grapefruit, lemon peels, subtle spice and a touch of warm butter at the finish. The wine is youthful with balanced, lively acidity and forward fruit, a slight buttery note, and a creamy mouthfeel rounded up a smooth palate. Match with fried chicken and beer-battered fish over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from Gimblett Gravels and Te Awanga, wild fermented to 12.8% alc, underwent MLF in large format French oak. 18/20 pts (90 pts) July 2023 RRP $20
