Black Barn ‘Single Vineyard’ Hawke’s Bay Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 23-Oct-2012
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. This is fresh and elegant with delicate white floral, lime and honeysuckle aromas along with some sweet and sour elements, herbs and minerals. Medium-sweet to taste, and light-bodied, classical apple, citrus and honeysuckle fruit flavours show with some sweet and sour notes. Soft, lacy acidity and the residual sugar underline the mouthfeel providing soft, rounded textures with some juicy succulence and zestiness. The palate is carried a little by the sweetness to a moderately sustained, delicately honied finish. This is a light and gentle medium-sweet Riesling with honied richness. Serve as an aperitif, or with mildly spicy foods as well as fruit over the net 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the Black Barn site in the Havelock Hills, fermented to 8.0% alc. and 53 g/L rs with a TA 8.5 g/L. 17.5+/20 Oct 2012 RRP $32.90
